Speaker: Katy Prescott of Baton Rouge

Description: Katie Prescott of Baton Rouge will give a lecture/trunk show on the quilts of Anna Williams who was perhaps the first African American quilter whose improvisational quilts were publicly recognized as art. Anna cleaned Katie’s mother’s home where they discovered that they had a common bond in quilting. Her mother introduced Anna to Nancy Crow. Soon after, Anna’s original, colorful quilts became collector items world wide.

Friday’s Katy Prescott Workshop

Katy’s  will lead us in making a scrappy quilt the Anna Williams way - you wil improvise with scissors.  A more detailed class supply list will follow. The fee is $35. There is a $10 class fee.

There are no restaurants near this facility so lunch will be ordered from Jason's Deli. You can order your lunch and pay for it by sending a check or money order payable to Crescent City Quilters. Please order by October 21, 2019.
